Barclays Online Assessment Recording

Updated: Dec 6, 2024

There are 5 sections in the Barclays Online Assessment.

Section 1 Our Purpose, Values and Mindset

Our Purpose

Finance is the oxygen of the economy. Acting transparently and with expertise, we deploy finance responsibly to support people and businesses. We have the capability and capital, the operational resilience and the commitment, to make a real and lasting difference to the economic lives of customers and communities. This is as true today as it was when our bank was founded over 330 years ago.

Acting with empathy and integrity, we aim to be a leader in the profession of banking and to engender trust among our key stakeholders. We understand the power of building a supportive and inclusive culture for everybody, knowing that we make a bigger difference when we pull together as one team.

We operate with energy and imagination, championing innovation and sustainability, to make a positive and enduring difference, to take pride in leaving things better than we found them. New ideas and technologies can help customers and communities to unlock opportunities.

Our success is judged not only by commercial performance, but also by our contribution to society, and how we act responsibly for the common good and the long term, because these outcomes are mutually dependent. We are at our best when our clients, customers, communities, and colleagues all progress.

Our Values

All of us live and breathe our Barclays Values, our guide and our code – in everything we do, every single day. They are:

Respect

We harness the power of diversity and inclusion in our business, trust those we work with, and value everyone’s contribution.

Integrity

We operate with honesty, transparency and fairness in all we do.

Service

We act with empathy and humility, putting the people and businesses we serve at the centre of what we do.

Excellence

We champion innovation, and use our energy, expertise and resources to make a positive difference.

Stewardship

We prize sustainability, and are passionate about leaving things better than we found them.

Our Mindset

Our mindset shapes how we get this done internally. Living by our Values, driven by our

Purpose, always with our customers and clients at the heart of what we do. At Barclays, we:

Empower

Trust and support each other to deliver. Make decisions with those closest to the topic. Include diverse perspectives. Celebrate success and learn from failure.

Challenge

Question whether things can be done better. Use insights based on data to inform decisions. Be curious about how we can adapt and improve. Speak up and be open to alternative viewpoints.

Drive

Focus on outcomes. Deliver with pace. Be passionate and ambitious about what we do.

Section 2 Tips for performing well in your assessments

We know the assessment process can seem a bit daunting and we want you to succeed as much as you do. To help you complete the assessments to the best of your ability, we have put together some hints and tips to support you. The purpose of these assessments is to allow us to understand more about you, your key skills and your mindset.

Ability tests and personality questionnaires help us assess your personality traits for job success, such as solving problems, communicating effectively, and being innovative and creative. It’s for these reasons that we use these proven tests and methods.

Here are our top tips:

• Take the time to understand each assessment you will be taking and what they will tell us about your fit to the job.

• Prepare using practice tests where available. Our practice tests can help you familiarise yourself with the different types of questions and timings. Practicing can help you feel more relaxed in the real assessment situation, giving you a better opportunity to show your true ability.

• Ensure you have a good internet connection, no distractions around and close any other browsers on your device to minimise the risk of technical glitches during the assessments.

• Barclays is committed to being a disability confident organisation. We strive to be the most accessible and inclusive FTSE company, and we will endeavour to make any required adjustments to support you in your application.

• If you consider yourself to have a disability, and require adjustments to the assessment process; please contact us as soon as possible at YourResourcingSupport@barclays.com.

• Most assessments can be adjusted to better suit individuals with disabilities such as visual impairments, hearing loss, mobility impairments, learning difficulties, mental health issues, and disfigurements. Reasonable adjustments aim to make your experience as smooth and fair as possible.During the assessment consider the following points:

• When completing assessments online, read through the instructions carefully and complete all practice and example questions.

• It is best to be yourself, and respond honestly. Remember that it’s not in your interest to take a job to which you are not well suited.

• If you feel you have performed poorly on one exercise, don’t give up. Your performance across all of them will be taken into account.

• Understanding more about Barclays can help you in your assessment. Our Purpose, Values and Mindset explain more about what we stand for. You can read about them in the Purpose, Values and Mindset task. The Get Help button at the bottom of your screen will take you to our practice tests and is also available if you require further technical support.

Remember that selection is a two-way process in which both you and the organisation make a choice – and the choice has to be right for both of you.

Section 3 Cognitive Ability Assessment

In this test, you will be using you problem solving, numerical, and reasoning skills. You will be asked to analyse scenarios, interpret provided information, identify patterns and sequences, perform numerical calculations, and draw logical conclusions. Rather than presenting you with a set of response options from which to choose, we've created an activity-based test that allows you to drag, drop, and interact with our questions!

You will have 36 minutes to complete 24 questions.
